Understanding Woodworm

Woodworm is caused by the larvae of wood-boring beetles which tunnel through timber as they develop. The tell-tale signs are small, round exit holes and fine powdery dust (known as frass) on or below timber surfaces. If left untreated, woodworm can severely weaken structural timbers, floorboards, and furniture.

Understanding Dry Rot

Dry rot (Serpula lacrymans) is a fungal decay that thrives in damp, poorly ventilated conditions. It breaks down the cellulose in timber, leaving wood brittle and crumbling. Dry rot can spread rapidly through masonry and behind plaster, meaning early identification and swift treatment are essential.
